KWANZAABY: D. HENDERSONThis puzzle is about KWANZAA. Dr. Maulana Ron Karenga, an African- American scholar and social activist, the "Father of Kwanzaa." Kwanzaa was established in 1966 as the only original African-American holiday. Kwanzaa celebrates African harvest and the beliefs and values of traditional African customs. During Kwanzaa, we remember that, while we are Americans, our roots are in Africa, the motherland. The seven principles of Kwanzaa (Nguzo Saba) teach values we should practice every day, not just during the Kwanzaa season. UMOJA (oo-MO-jah)means UNITY, KUJICHAGULIA (koo-jee-cha-goo-LEE-ah)means SELF-DETERMINATION, UJIMA (oo-JEE-mah)means COLLECTIVE WORK AND RESPONSIBILITY, UJAMAA(oo-jah-MAH) means COOPERATIVE ECONOMICS, NIA (NEE-ah)means PURPOSE, KUUMBA (koo-OOM-bah)means CREATIVITY, IMANI (ee-MAH-nee)means FAITH.
Some of the puzzles that people list for the public get indexed by the search engines (like Google). Some people find those puzzles and cannot figure out how to make a puzzle of their own. So this page now has the navigation sidebar. There are now buttons on the puzzle so that you can get a clean page, in either HTML or PDF, that you can use your browser's print button to print. The PDF format allows the web site to know how large a printer page is, and the fonts are scaled to fill the page. The PDF takes awhile to generate. Don't panic! |
